My all Time Favorite Hero: GEORGE CABLE

What is a hero??
When people think about what really makes someone a hero, they think about someone that's out there fighting crime or someone that saves lives. My favorite hero is someone that is very dear to my heart. He was a great father and wonderful husband and he was a fantastic grandfather and great grandfather . He never really fought crime nor saved lives, however he was in World War II. He was my grandfather, George Cable; and this is why I refer him as being a hero.

My Hero
My grandpa George Cable was a very loving person and a great role model. He was a Tail Gunner in the United States Air Force in World War II. He shot down 2 Nazi planes and he had a lot of cool war memorabilia that my brothers and cousins and I inherited. He was full of stories, laughter, great knowledge, he had a fascinating mind, and never spoke an unkind word about anyone. His wife Ruth was number 1 and everyone else was equal to him.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM MY GRANDFATHER, GEORGE CABLE
-Never stop being yourself
-Never stop believing in yourself
-If you cannot be yourself, WHO IN THE HELL CAN YOU BE???

I guess when it comes down to it.. You shouldn't change who you are. You are the person that represents you and no one else. If you are feeling down about yourself or if you want to change something about yourself; you should change but only if its something you want to do and no one else persuaded you to make the change. We all can make changes for the better... we should just make the right changes first and only change for the better and for a positive outcome. With perseverance, dedication, and hard work, you can do whatever you put your mind to. You make yourself the kind of person that you want people to remember you by and not what you could have been. We aren't going to be alive forever and I don't want people to remember me for my mistakes and the bad decisions I have made in the past.. Would you?

I am very fortunate to be able to have been in my grandfather's presence while he was alive let alone be related to him and call him my grandfather. He cared a lot for his family and I am damn proud to say I was his grandson. Not a day goes by where I don't think about my grandparents and what they had done for me. Even though I can't see them nor hear their voices doesn't mean they aren't there. Not a doubt in mind that they are watching over me and our family this very second.

R.I.P. GRANDMA AND GRANDPA!
